Galega en Escocia The Galician Flag flying in Scotland
Bandeira Galega en Glasgow, Escocia Suso Vilas ondea a bandeira do Reino de Galiza baixo da estatua de John Moore en George Square, Glasgow, para agradecer ao xeneral escocés os seus servizos prestados ao noso país na defensa da Coruña, onde morreu en combate o 16 Xaneiro 1809. Os restos do xeneral John Moore repousan desde aquela nos xardíns do Arquivo do Reino de Galiza, na Coruña, onde Rosalía de Castro lle adicou un poema que foi grabado nunha placa de mármore a carón do sartego do xeneral escocés. Flying the Galician flag in Glasgow, Scotland Mr. Suso Vilas flies the flag of the Kingdom of Galicia at the statue of Sir John Moore in George Square, Glasgow, to thank him for his ultimate sacrifice for our national freedom at the Battle of Corunna. A native of the city of Glasgow, John Moore died in action at the Battle of Corunna on January 16th 1809. His body rests in the gardens of the Archive of the Kingdom of Galicia, in the city of Corunna. Nearby his grave there is a marble-engraved poem written in honour of the Scottish general by Galician national poetess Ms Rosalia de Castro. |
